Serialyvam: Game of Thrones S8E5 review

If you are a Game of Thrones fan, then you must have been eagerly waiting for the penultimate episode of the show's final season. The episode S8E5 was a highly anticipated one, as it promised to be action-packed and full of surprises. And it did not disappoint!

The Plot

The episode begins with the aftermath of the Battle of Winterfell. The main focus is on Daenerys Targaryen, who is seething with anger and grief after losing her closest advisor, Jorah Mormont, and one of her dragons in the battle. She also learns that her lover and nephew, Jon Snow, has a more rightful claim to the Iron Throne than she does.

In a fit of rage, Daenerys decides to attack King's Landing with her remaining dragon and army, despite Tyrion Lannister's plea for a peaceful resolution. Jon Snow tries to reason with her but is ultimately unsuccessful.

The rest of the episode is a brutal and devastating depiction of the attack on King's Landing. Fans were treated to epic battle scenes, overwhelming destruction, and some unexpected deaths.

The Performances

The cast of Game of Thrones once again delivered some amazing performances in this episode, particularly Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen. She perfectly captured the character's descent into madness and the conflict between her desire for power and her conscience.

Peter Dinklage's portrayal of Tyrion Lannister, who is torn between his loyalty to his queen and his belief in doing what is right for the people, was also noteworthy. Lena Headey brought her usual flair to the role of Cersei Lannister, who finally met her end in this episode.

The Verdict

Overall, S8E5 was a thrilling and intense episode that lived up to the hype. It sets up the final episode of the show perfectly and leaves fans wondering how the story will ultimately conclude. The only disappointment was that the episode was not longer, as it felt like there was a lot more story to be told.
